Raghav notices the dhaba
where they had lunch few days back.
“We’ll stop here? We can eat
something here.”
Kalpana feels astonished and
replies “Why? We already had dinner in the hospital’s canteen.”
Raghav clears his throat and
says “Yea but I thought to eat something as it will take another 2 hours to
reach Mumbai but if you don’t want then it is fine.”
Kalpana looks at him and
then at his hand thinking “May be he is not feeling well and wants to have food
now.” “OK. We’ll eat and then proceed.”
They both get off the car
and enter the dhaba. The place is decorated and all the guests had worn bright
costumes and were dancing around a born fire. The owners were looking quite
happy and excited and their family members and friends were enjoying the food
and dance.
The moment the owner notices
Raghav and Kalpana, he rushes towards them and welcome them inside.
“Glad that you both could
make it here for our anniversary.”
“Anniversary?” Kalpana asks.
“Yes. That day I had invited
you and your friend.” Kalpana turns to face Raghav who smiles and says “Yes, I
remember. Kalpana, let’s go in.”
“What happened to your hand
son? You got injured?” The owner asks while Raghav explains him what happened
during the day.
The wife comes and makes
Kalpana and Raghav to sit on a wooden bed along with the other guests and they
are served food by the wife.
“No, I don’t want anything
to eat. I have already had dinner. My boss Raghav would like to have some food.
What do you want to eat sir?”
Raghav smiles and says “I
would have one glass of lassi.”
“Sure son and drink this
turmeric milk. Since you’re injured, it will help you get some relief from the
pain. I’ll also bring besan ka ladoos for you dear.” The lady says while
addressing Kalpana. “And don’t worry. Today’s food expense will be borne by us
as it’s our anniversary and you both are our guests.”
After drinking and eating
some sweets and snacks, the owners instruct their friends to play the naggada
and dhol (drum).
One of the guest grabs
Kalpana’s hand and forces her to dance.
Kalpana feels awkward to
dance among the women while Raghav keeps watching her dance. He notices
Kalpana’s gaze on him and lowers his eyes.
The owner’s wife makes
Kalpana join their group and holds her hand while dancing. They play the song
“Nagadda baja” from ‘Jab we Met’ and dance with full energy and passion while
Kalpana just joins them by body as her soul wants Raghav beside her while her
mind negates the fact.
Raghav feels happy to see
Kalpana smiling and dancing with the group and recollects the moments they
spent together and tears start forming in his eyes. He hides his tears and
wipes them off before they fall while Kalpana notices the pain in Raghav’s eyes.
The weather changes as time
passes by and it starts thundering and lightening. Due to the wind, Kalpana’s
duppatta (scarf) sways in the air. She does not understand anything as all this
happens in a split of a second. When she realizes that he dupatta is not there,
she starts searching for it and turns around.
Raghav notices a scarf in
the air and realizes that it is Kalpana’s scarf. He goes to hold and he wraps
it along his wrist. He starts searching for Kalpana and notices her looking
around in search of the same.
Raghav approaches her and it
suddenly starts raining heavily. The guests begin to rush inside the dhaba
(restaurant) while Kalpana stands outside and tries to protect herself from
getting wet.
She turns to her left and
notices Raghav walking towards her with the scarf in his hand. He approaches
her and she notices the proximity between them. Her eyes tear up as she loses
herself in his presence. She had been controlling herself for so long and now
it had become almost impossible for her to explain herself the feelings and
pain she was going through.
The moment freezes as Raghav
looks into Kalpana’s eyes and does not know what to say as he falls short of
words. Noticing her getting wet in the rain emotes feelings within him and he
wants to grab her in his arms and tell her how much he loves her but he does
not find courage to say those words to her.
They both feel lost in each
other’s eyes and Kalpana starts getting flashes of the day when she first
confessed her feelings to him. That night was the most special night for them
and both had expressed their love for each other.
That day witnessed not only
their love but the same weather and same awkwardness they both felt to tell
each other how much they loved and wanted each other.
Raghav’s shirt was white in
color due to which it appeared transparent in the rain and the rain drops
dripping from Kalpana’s face were sending shivers down his spine. As they kept
getting wet in the rain, the heat could be visible in their eyes.
Raghav extends his hand to
give Kalpana her scarf and she takes it capturing his body in an embrace. She
hugged him as tight she could as her heart ruled over her mind. She was in no
control of her feelings and hatred for him and the only thing she could feel
was the love. The love that made them one, the love which made Raghav strong,
the love that dint let her hate him no matter how much she convinced herself
for the same.
She hugged him tight and he
too lost himself in her love. He responded to the hug and let himself get
drowned in the emotions.
“I love you Raghav. I love
you….” Kalpana says while hugging him and closes her eyes to feel the moment.
“I love you too Kalpana. I
just love you a lot.” Raghav replies while moving his hands on her back. “I
love you so much Kalpi.”
The rain again stood witness to their love.
