Raghav left for
office and I was alone in the house as Rajesh too went to the market.
I felt happy that
Rajesh wasn’t there at home else he used to keep stopping me from doing my work
but at the same time the house looked creepy and even though I was alone, I
felt someone’s presence near me.
I couldn’t imagine that a house that I was praising the previous day
appeared awful to me. I just could not get the thing out of my mind that this
house has witnessed so many deaths.
I started feeling chocked and so took a bottle of water from the
refrigerator and drank it to calm myself and quench my thirst.
I took a newspaper and started reading it. The first few headlines started
giving me a headache as it dealt with the crime in my country. I rushed through
the pages and stopped as my pain started increasing.
Flashes of the blood stains on the ground, the shadow I had seen in the
night and Rajesh’s words “Don’t leave your n the night” started haunting me.
I tried distracting myself and kept the newspaper on the table and picked
up a book named “History of Animals” by Aristotle.
I felt better reading the book and it was a learning experience for me. It
was interesting to read on and understanding the differences and similarities
of animals and humans.
I started from the first page and in no time I had reached the 15th
page. The pictures he had used to explain the facts were beautiful.
I kept reading and I was so engrossed that I dint realize how time passed
by. I turned the page and stopped at it. I was explaining the social
organization of bees. I felt strange for a moment when I saw the
picture of a bee hive coming to reality.
I rubbed my eyes and continued reading. After few seconds, I saw a bee
from the black and white image suddenly change its color and it also made some
noise.
I thought it was my imagination and I flipped the page.
I started reading the next chapter and while reading it, I felt few pages
of the book moving while my hands which were stable.
I started trembling as the scene before me was unreal. I took courage and
turned the page slowly.
I couldn’t believe what my eyes were witnessing. There were two bees that
had come to life form the image and they looked horrible.
In few seconds, the bees moved up and started flying in the air, taking
circles around me. I started sweating with fear and closed my eyes thinking it
may just be a lie.
I suddenly fell my something weird on my skin and opened my eyes in a
shock. A thing was moving inside the skin of my hand.
It was as if something was walking inside my skin and as it approached my
wrist, its size began to increase. I started feeling itchy and as I went to
touch my skin, I felt a prick in my hand.
I stood dumbstruck as I saw that it was a huge bee than came out of my
skin. I felt restless and started breathing heavily. I got up and saw it
becoming larger and larger in size.
My feet became numb. I took 2 steps behind and felt something on my other
hand. A similar sensation.
Tears started forming in my eyes as I could not understand what was
happening to me. Whether it was a dream or whether it was happening in reality.
I started crying and called out for help.
I rushed towards the door and witness a group of bees approaching me. I
took few steps behind and turned to face the hall. The scene had turned worse
as the huge bee split up into hundreds of bees.
More bees came in from the windows as well and the entire house was full
of bees in few moments.
They started biting me on my face and my hands were full of bees. I
started taking them out forcefully from my face and tried to protect myself.
My heart started beating faster and I could feel my breath as my entire
body was captured by the bees. I felt that it would be my last day and I
couldn’t save myself. The bees kept choking me and bit me all over my body
which made me bleed.
I opened my one eye after removing and killing some of the bees and found
myself in the middle of the hall.
I walked fast and rushed upstairs. I tried to open my room but my hands
were sweating and were attacked by the creatures which made me feel weak.
After several efforts, I managed to open my room and within a split of a
second, I banged the door shut and rested my head on the door taking a sigh of
relief that I was free of the creatures.
I rushed to the window and shut it as fast as I could and then I drew the
curtains which made my room dark as the lights were off.
I sat down trembling and I caught my body tight. I kept weeping and
screaming for help as I knew that the moment I open the door, I would be
attacked once again.
I heard a knock at the door and my eyes widened with fear. “Leave me
alone.” I stammered.
I could not hear any sound and so I screamed “Please go away.” I pleaded.
“Just go.” I started crying and asking for mercy.
