Raghav said to himself "How can I tell you sir
that your own son is the culprit?"
Kalpana hugged Raghav and said "I am so happy
Raghav that now you are free. I'll just call Gauri mom and Vikram uncle and
give them this good news."
They all went to Raghav's house and Gauri served
Sahil with snacks. She thanked him for releasing Raghav and Vikram said that
whatever he can do for him, he will do in exchange for this favor. Sahil asked
him as to where he works to which he replied that he is a school master.
Sahil noticed that Raghav's house had just one bed on
which Sahil and Kalpana were sitting and Gauri went to the neighborhood to
bring chairs so that they could sit as well. An old TV, a small radio and a
cupboard which looked old but was over filled with books which included the
school textbooks and Raghav's engineering books.
There was a small kitchen on the left side which had
some new and many old utensils and a small gas. There was no washroom in the
house and a common washroom outside the house which was not worth visiting as
it used to stink and was in a miserable condition. The stink used to come
inside the house and so Raghav sprayed scent in the room to make Sahil and
Kalpana feel comfortable.
The paint on the wall was worn out and the ceiling
fan was not enough to make it feel cool inside the house because of which Sahil
was continuously sweating.
Raghav used to give his earnings in his mom's hand
who used to manage the month's expense and she saved the remaining money in the
bank that could help them in future and they were also planning to buy a new
house if possible. They all were happy with each other and they did not need
anything except each other's love.
Sahil said to himself "My daughter is in love
with this boy whose house stinks and they are nothing but a bunch of chawl
walas. They think that by making my daughter their DIL, they can make their
life better? Such cheap mentality people."
Kalpana was happy that Raghav has been released after
so many days.
For her the state of his house never mattered as
Raghav was everything for her.
She did not mind to live with him in their 4 by 4
house and sleep on the floor where he used to sleep.
She was learning cooking as well so that she could
make some dishes for Raghav after their marriage.
She was sure that Sahil would never refuse their
relationship and was only concerned about Prem who hated Raghav from the very
first day they met in her house.
Gauri said "Sahil saab, please eat the
snacks."
Sahil looked at the samosas and chips that were
placed in the plate and they looked oily and unhealthy. He said "No,
actually I just had food in the plane. I am not hungry."
Kalpana took one samosa in her hand and insisted
Sahil to taste one and she too loved eating the samosas.
Kalpana was used to eating these oily stuff ever
since she confessed to Raghav and initially it was difficult to manage with his
likes/dislikes but then she became used to eat and now she totally loved it.
Whether it was roaming on the road and eating from stalls pani puri, sev batata puri, watching movies in single screens and having a bottle of pepsi and a packet of samosas to eat, walking bare footed on the sand on Juhu beach, eating ice golas from the footpath, buying road-side stuff whether accessories, clothes, shoes and anything, she just loved spending time with Raghav.
Kalpana had just became another part of him and he
loved her more than anything in this world but often he used to feel that he is
not her type and so wanted to give her a better life and wanted to afford the
life she had been living for the past 19 years.
Sahil and Kalpana decided to leave and they headed
towards their car.
Sahil made an excuse that he has left his mobile
phone inside the house and told Kalpana to be seated in the car by the time he
gets back.
Kalpana kept waiting inside the car for her dad to
come out while Sahil went inside the house.
Vikram welcomed him inside and asked him to have a
seat but Sahil refused and removed a cheque from his bag. He signed it and
handed it over to Vikram saying "This is a small token from me for your
son who has proved his talent."
Raghav looked at him and said "Sir, why this
cheque? I have already received my salary this month."
Sahil smirked and said "Raghav, this is not your
salary but this is an amount I am paying you to leave my daughter. It's a blank
cheque."
Raghav widened his eyes and stood completely blank.
Vikram looked at Raghav wondering what the matter was.
Raghav said after clearing his throat "Sir, this
..."
Sahil interrupted him saying "Take this and
enjoy your life. You can buy yourself a new house, car, everything with the
money but you cannot have my daughter. Yeah, I know that deciding on a final
amount takes time. So, take your time and deposit the cheque whenever you want.
Your resignation letter will be on its way tomorrow. Good luck Raghav."
Gauri holds Raghav's shoulder and Vikram closes the
door.
