Two months pass by...
MUMBAI:
Kalpana leaves her college with Priya.
She walks fast outside the gate and starts jumping.
"Yess...Finally...Finally my exams are over...I'm sure that this time I'm
going to fail...Yay!!!"
Priya asks Kalpana to lower her voice as
the college students start walking leaving the college gate and happen to hear
Kalpana's words. They keep staring at her and Priya says "Look
now...Everyone is hearing you. Students appear for exams to get good marks and
even to top...And here you are a person who is appearing for an exam to
fail."
Kalpana smirks and says "Coz I'm
different. What's the excitement in passing an exam? The real fun is when you
flunk in an exam. Imagine...My family will be tensed on the result day...I'll
go home with my marksheet...Mom, Dad and my entire family will be approach me
and start the rapid fire round..."
Mom will ask..."Beta, you passed in
your exam? Mrs. Sharma has brough her son's relationship for you."
Dad will ask..."First class right?
That's enough to become a lawyer."
Preeti aunt will ask "Kalpi, you got
70% marks at least? I placed a bet with that Neelam. If I win, I'll get to
attend the prom night with her brother."
Granny will say "You completed your
graduation? By God, now I need to pray to Babaji and offer Rs. 101 to
him."
Granpa will say "My baby, don't
worry even if you have got low marks. I'm there for you always and I'll see who
will scold you."
After few moments , I'll make a puppy
face and say in a soft tone "I failed."
This will eco in the house with my mom
saying "No. What will I answer Mrs Sharma."
Dad will say "Kalpi...Now you ave to
reappear in the exams. This is all because of your pampering."
Grandpa will say "Oye Rajeev...Don't
scold me Kalpu...I'm sure the teacher must have set a tough paper."
Granny will say "Don't cry baby.
Next time you pass your exams and then I'll offer God money."
Preeti aunty will say "What Kalpi?
My date got cancelled before it was confirmed."
"And then finally the drama is over.
You notice the difference Priya?" Kalpana says proudly.
"Hmmm...Kalpi. So much emotional
drama you can get to see only in your house. You may fail also and still your
family supports you."
"Because my family is special."
Kalpana winks and says "So finally. My exams are over and now we can
celebrate. Tell me...Australia...Indonesia or Paris?"
"Goa..." Priya smiles widely.
"Goa? We are going to Goa?"
Prem asks Raghav.
"Yes. The carnival is going to start
next week. Girls, drinks and party...Damn! It's going to be a lot of fun."
Raghav says while sipping his beer.
"Girls...Wow!" Prem sits
besides Raghav and orders for another beer.
"Boys, party, music and dance...It's
going to be rocking at Goa, Kalpi." Priya says in an excited tone.
"Party is good but the
boys...Ewww...They wear just briefs for these parties." Kalpana says in a
disgusting tone.
"It's not briefs...They are called
shorts. And in Goa, this style is famous. Even girls wear only bikinis
there."
"But seriously, you want to go to
Goa? I was thinking for a long international trip." Kalpana
**********
"Goa? No no...Beta, I heard people
don't wear any clothes on beaches." Kasturi says.
"Oh Kasturi...Girls wear clothes but too less to cover their body...But anyways, our Kalpi is not like those girls. She will wear dresses only." Sunaina assures Kasturi.
"Now you want to time pass in Goa?
No Raghav. You just returned from Australia. I've already chosen few girls for
you. Come back and then we can proceed with the relationship." Shakuntala
says.
"Dadi, please. I will just attend
the carnival and come back in the next flight. Please...Just 1 week."
Raghav pleads.
"Mom...If Raghav wants to attend the
festival, let him do so. What's the hurry for his marriage?" Gauri says
casually while filing her nails and Shakuntala looks in disbelief at her and
finally agrees.
*****
"I'm so
excited....Goa...Carnival...See Kalpi...I've packed the best clothes for our
trip. It's going to be so much fun." Priya says while walking inside the
air plane.
"Yeah, that's why you brough 5 bags
with you. 1 week and 5 bags? You're nuts Priya." Kalpana snaps while
sitting on her seat near Priya.
"Kalpi...Now stop being a spoilt
sport. We are going on for a festival but you are behaving as if we are going
for a funeral." Priya says in a dissapointed tone.
"Excuse me...Can you please shift
your bag?" A voice is heard and Kalpana turns to face the person.
Raghav stands near the seat with both one
hand stuffed in his pocket and second hand pointing towards Kalpana's bag.
Kalpana removes her bag from the seat and
does not say a word. Raghav jumps on the seat causing Kalpana to jerk and she
says "Mannerless" in a soft tone.
"Did you say something?" Raghav
asks and Kalpana looks astonished at him saying "No. Did you hear
anything?" Raghav nods his head in a refusal.
"Can't imagine people treating an
air plane as a train and keeping their luggage on other's seat. Middle class
mentality." Raghav says to himself. "Did you say something?"
Kalpana asks and Raghav points to himself saying "No. Not at all. Why did
you hear anything?" Kalpana nods in a refusal.
Priya whispers in Kalpana's ear
"This boy looks so handsome na?"
Kalpana replies in disbelief "Don't
start here Priya. It's so embarrasing. Look in front and not at this man."
Priya gets irritated and looks outside
the window. She turns when she hears another voice "Bro, so these are our
seats?" Prem says while sitting besides him.
Raghav stares at Prem and replies
"No. I'm just chilling here. What took you so much time?"
"Oh bro! I was asking the air
hostess about the time it takes to reach Goa." Prem smiles widely.
"When I already told you that it
will take an hour?" Raghav snaps.
"She was so pretty bro. I couldn't
stop my...." Prem notices a girl constantly smiling at him and he greets
her. "Hi, I'm Prem."
"Hi...This is Priya." Priya
smiles while shaking hands with Prem and Kalpana glares at her angrily.
