"He was not Raghav?" Preeti
says over the phone and Kalpana snaps "No. Urghhh! Can't believe I made
such a big mistake...Now where's that idiot? How to find him among so many
men?" Preeti replies "Don't stress...I sent you his photograph Kalpi.
Check your phone and calm down. I'll call you back in sometime."
Kalpana takes her phone out from her
pocket and checks the MMS her aunt send her. As the picture loads on her phone,
her eyes remain glued to her screen and when the picture reveals that her to-be
groom is Raghav, her eyes pop up and the words that come out are
"WT*"
"Yes...WT*..." Comes a reply
from a man standing before Kalpana and she looks up noticing that it is Raghav
who stands before her.
Few moments of silence are shared between
them and they keep giving angry glares at each other.
Kalpana takes a deep breath and then
bursts out laughing. "Can't imagine this...Seriously...You..." She
covers her mouth and keeps giggling, pointing her finger at him and holding a
stomach while Raghav stands confused before her and stuffs his hands in his
pockets. "You....You're come to see me? Oh Gosh! Tell me this was a
dream...The Raghav Singhania wants to have an arrange marriage...OMG! This has
to be a joke." She holds his hand and points at him while her eyes tears
up with happiness "This is a joke right? How can you come here to see a
girl? You have like 1000s of girl friends and...Oh Yes! That girl behind also
must be one of them?" She chokes while laughing and says "You...You
seriously are come here to see me?"
Raghav keeps looking at Kalpana and feels
humiliated and embarrassed as Kalpana kept mocking him before others.
"Dad, why do you hate me so much? You got no other girl other than this
item?" Kalpana smiles and asks "Where are you Mr. handsome hunk?
Tch...tch...tch...You being so good looking and charming could not get a girl
who wants to marry you? Searching girls on shaadi.com. LOL."
Raghav composes himself and replies
"Keep laughing Miss. Kalpana Kapoor. Keep laughing...But don't think that
I am going to marry a girl like you." Kalpana's smile fades and she snaps
"What do you mean by a girl like me?"
"I mean look at yourself...And now
look at me...Such a big difference of class, looks and standard. And don't you
think I will get married to a girl like you. If you are the last girl alive on
this earth, still I won't get married to you Miss Kalpana." He rolls his
eyes and smirks.
"As if I am dying to marry a playboy
like you. Huh!" She says with attitude and he points his finger towards
her saying "You may or may not have known that I'm the girl, I don't care.
And for your last girl philosophy, if you are the last man alive on this earth,
I might prefer killing you and then living here alone." She spits out.
Raghav rolls his eyes and wraps his hands
across his chest "You really are something and you always find ways to cut
my statement Hun. Like you're dying to kill me, my hands are itching to
strangle you but since one murder also is an offence, I am not interested in
spending more nights in prison."
Kalpana laughs and says "That means
that day you did spend a night there."
Raghav mocks her laughter and adds
"You know that your laughter is like a witch." Kalpana grins as
Raghav adds saying "For you that insurance boy is just fine." She
turns behind to see the insurance guy laughing along with his client.
"Like you laugh like a witch, he laughs like a clown. You both make a
perfect laughing couple."
Kalpana bites her teeth and closes her
fist in anger as she feels embarrassed to see that she thought the insurance
guy as her partner.
Kalpana turns to leave but stops and
turns to face Raghav again. She smirks leaving Raghav all confused.
"Hmm...Like that girl is perfect for you." Raghav turns in the
direction Kalpana points at and notices the girl who was asking him for a night
is smooching another man in a corner. Raghav frowns and clenches his jaws
saying "She's not my girl friend. It was just a misunderstanding like your
insurance agent. Anyways, I dint expect you to be the girl."
"Same here. Actually, when I heard
the name Raghav, I should have understood it would be a man who's a playboy.
Right enough, it was. Ummm...So now I'll go home and tell my parents that the
first proposal was a flop." She swallows a breath and leaves from there.
Raghav watches her go and responds in a loud voice "Oh yeah! Tell your
parents next time to search a man of your match, who laughs like a clown and
walks like an ape." He starts giggling and the hotel staff laugh as
Kalpana bangs the floor with her foot and leaves.

Three weeks pass by...
Kalpana's parents keep searching grooms
for her and till now she has met 5 boys who are one worse than the other. She
gets tired of meeting the boys and tells Kasturi and Rajeev that she doesn't
want to marry at all. Hearing this, Kasturi gets angry and decides to scold
Kalpana while Preeti stops her and says that she'll talk to Kalpana.
Preeti enters the room and notices
Kalpana sitting quietly on the bed in darkness. She switches on the lights
which takes Kalpana by a shock.
"Aunty, why did you come here? I
want to be alone for sometime. Please let me be by myself."
"Hmmm...Now Kalpi has become so big
that she doesn't want to sit with her own family members. This new generation
kids are so wise that they can think for themselves and they don't want their
parents to interfere in their life."
"Aunty...Don't taunt me...I just
don't want to get married now but mom and dad can't understand this. The
constant pressure of getting married now...Urghh...It's killing me aunty. As if
marriage is the only thing a girl can do after she turns 20."
Preeti comes near Kalpana and caresses
her back. "I can understand this Kalpi as I've also been through this
phase. The moment a girl turns 20, parents get worried for their daughter's
marriage. When I was your age, my parents also were the same. When I completed
my college, they started searching boys for me too and then Ravi came into my
life. In two months itself, he made me fall in love with him and I wanted to
spend my entire life with him. We got engaged then but may be...(she tears up
and Kalpana holds her hands to console her) may be destiny wasn't in our favor
and I lost Ravi in a car accident." She starts crying and Kalpana wipes
her tears saying "Aunty, I dint mean to hurt you. I'm sorry."
"Don't be Kalpi...You were very
small when this happened...The thing I wanted to explain you is..We all get
only one person in life...A person who changes our life and who makes us fall
in love...God gives us just one chance while few lucky people keep finding new
love...In my life, it was only Ravi...Now it's your turn to get that one person
who's going to be your life...I know Kalpi that at this age, we are not able to
think about marriage but once this age passes by, it gets very tough for a girl
to get an appropriate groom. Look at me...That's why I am saying this to
you...Just meet the boys and choose the best one who can understand you. Give
them a chance as well and I promise you that you will marry the person whom you
choose...It won't be our choice only. You agree?"
Kalpana looks away and says "OK
aunty. As you say." Preeti smiles and hugs her saying "That means you
agree and so my work is done." Kalpana widens her eyes and says
"Means you had planned all this? This is an emotional blackmail
aunty." Preeti bites her tongue and holds her ears to apologize.
"That's mean aunty." Kalpana grumbles and Preeti pulls her cheeks
saying "Now since you are already blackmailed, please forgive me."
Kalpana nods her head refusing to forgive Preeti and Preeti tries to be playful
and moves her fingers in the air trying to tickle Kalpana on her waist. Kalpana
starts giggling and keeps screaming "No aunty...OK ok...I forgive
you...Stop please."
"No mom...Till now I've met a dozen
of girls and all are just bad...Dad made me meet a girl who I hate so
much...Thank God I was saved before it became to late." Raghav says while
sitting on the couch near his mother.
Vikram walks in talking over the phone
and stops as he notices Raghav at home. "You're here? I told you to attend
the meeting with Mr. Gupta." Gauri stops him and says "Oh Vikram.
Don't be so rude to your son. He just came home after attending the meeting.
Now let him take some rest." "But what happened in the meeting?"
Gauri raises her eye brow and Vikram thinks of discussing this sometime later
as Raghav was not in a mood of talking. Raghav gets up to go to his room when Vikram
stops him saying "Don't go anywhere. Just sit here for few moments."
Raghav sits on the couch and Vikram rolls
his sleeve up saying "I spoke to Mr. Rajeev Kapoor in the afternoon. He
has not yet found a groom for his daughter Kalpana." Raghav looks up at
him in astonishment and Vikram continues saying "I've decided that Kalpana
is the best girl for you. Her family is well educated and they have a good
reputation in society."
"Dad but...I can't get married to
that girl." Raghav snaps and Vikram rolls his eyes and smirks saying
"Why? Because she's the same girl who got you arrested sometime
back?" Gauri's eyes widen on hearing this and she looks confused at both
father and son. Raghav lowers his eyes and Vikram laughs saying "That's
the main reason why she's the best. A girl who knows how to handle loafers like
you." "Vikram" Gauri tris to make him stop while Vikram keeps
laughing and stands up saying "I've said what I had to say. Gauri, don't
worry. The girl is beautiful and she will be a perfect DIL. Will fix a meeting
with them tomorrow." Raghav keeps looking at his father walk away and
bangs his head with his hand.
"Bro...Chill...Don't get so hyper.
I've spoken to Priya yesterday and she told me that Kalpana also is going
through the same phase as you. I feel destiny also wants you both to be
together. That's the reason you both keep meeting each other time and again.
It's not a coincidence Bro." Prem says and Raghav gives him an angry
glare. "And destiny is advising me that if you don't stop your nonsense,
I'll throw you out of the window." "Bro..." "Shut up Prem.
Don't make me a sacrificial goat because of your so called love story."
"Bro...I'm not saying this because I
love Priya." Raghav raises his eyebrow and Prem chokes saying "It's
true I love her but...but bro...think once...You don't want to get
married...She doesn't want to get married as well...What if you both...I mean
you both come together and have a contract marriage?"

"Are you nuts Priya...Marrying that
creature? I'll jump in the well but not marry that insect." Kalpana snaps
and Priya tries to convince Kalpana. "But it will be a contract marriage
Kalpana...You can live the life you want to even after you get married."
"Sorry bro...Don't throw me out of
the window...Please no." Prem keeps screaming and Raghava holds him
tightly positioning Prem's head outside the window. "If you don't stop
taking her name, you'll just be thrown down and you'll land directly in the
garbage bin."
"Kalpi...Please...You want to become
an actress and Raghav's dad owns an advertising agency...He keeps meeting
celebrities day-in-day-out and Karan Johar is his best friend." Kalpana
eyes pop up on hearing Karan Johar's name and Priya nods her head wearing a
wide smile. Kalpana enters her dream world where she finds herself interacting
with Karan Johar on his popular show 'Koffee with Karan.'
"Please bro...Don't do this...I'm
telling you because Kalpana is Mr. Mehra maternal grand father. The same Mr.
Mehra who you were trying to work with for that contract." Raghav freezes
for a moment and puts Prem down. Prem holds his chest and legs to check if he
is still alive and Raghav moves behind and falls on the couch.
